Am I being really stupid?

When people have assisted me before to locate details in the London Gazette, I have ended up with a closely printed page with one line entries under the decoration awarded, giving service number, rank, name and regiment. This accompanied by a further sheet again in decoration order with the soldier’s details and a summary paragraph of why the award was made.

I have the soldiers details, the issue and page number but every search simply brings up that first page. It refers to 14th November 1916 but is headed 16th November 1916, and googling these dates shows me that it was the final stages of the battle for the Somme and that there were many casualties and decorations awarded.

Is it simply that there were so many that there are no further details or am I not understanding how to use the search facility properly?

Any help would be much appreciated.
