According to a local Belgian people, the submarine cable was still visible at the beach of La Panne at the beginning of the 90’s. The small construction where the cable went out of the sand was closer to the Léopold I monument. It is not far from the place where British commemorations passed every year…

The cable was unfortunately scrapped by a Belgian firm which pulled back metal from the sand (underground), as bombs and everything in metal.
This firm also found on the beach guns, mines, bombs, rifles, pieces of vehicles… and the cable in copper alloy was probably sold as a valuable metal…
