Hi everyone,

Can anyone tell me anything about 31 GT Coy RASC?

My Great Grandfather was posted to No 5 Bridge Coy RASC from basic training
And travelled to Egypt ariving in April 1941. I believe that No 5 Bridge Coy became part of
7 Armoured Div, 8th Army?

12/06/1941 – Granted W.J.P.P.

02/10/1941 – XIV List, T.O.S. XIV BD from 5 Bridge Coy.

09/10/1941 – 31 GT Coy, T.O.S. this unit from XIV BD. ( am I right in thinking 31 GT Coy were a general transport Company RASC?) Ernest’s MI9 escape and evasion report states he was serving with 31 Coy when Tobruk fell and that he made his escape from Tobruk with 9 Guardsmen before capture 30km up the coast.

I can’t find any info on 31 GT Coy RASC, due to Ernest making his escape with Guardsman am I right in thinking he was attached to 201 Gaurds Motor Brigade or am I way off?

Anyone out there know anything about RASC units or who was attached to who at Tobruk
