Tuesday 4th June

1530 hrs. DOUVRES LA DELIVERANDE: Commemoration service at the Cemetery organised by the children, 13 to 16 years old, from the College Maitrise Notre Dame. (FM) (YL)

1530 hrs. AMFRÉVILLE: Wreath laying at various locations, No. 3, 4, 6 and 1 Brigade Commando Memorials. (B&F)

1800 hrs. PUTOT EN AUGE: Assemble by the Mairie. Parade from the Mairie to the War Cemetery by the Church for a short Remembrance Service. Move onto the Railway Station for a short service by the 9th Battalion Plaque. Followed by a vin d’honneur in the Salle des Fêtes. There will be a short “Memorial Service” for Fred SMITH (13th Battalion Veteran) after the service at the Church. (PRA) (RB) (MP)

Wednesday 5th June

0915 hrs. RANVILLE War Cemetery: “Memorial Service” for Alex DURHAM (9th Battalion Veteran) and Matt NEWALL (Royal Engineers Veteran). (AANT)

1000 hrs. BAVENT: (Le Mesnil): Square Brigadier James HILL. Service of Remembrance. Wreath laying at 3rd Para Brigade & 1st Canadian Para Battalion Memorials. Music by the Yorkshire Police Band. Followed by a vin d’honneur. (YPB) (YL)

1100 hrs. MEMORIAL PEGASUS MUSEUM: French wreath laying by the original Pegasus Bridge in the park grounds of the museum. Music by the Yorkshire Police Band along with 7th Oxfordshire Rifles Cadets. Colonel Stuart TOOTAL DSO. OBE. (ex 3 Para commander, Falklands) will be in the foyer of the Museum during the morning signing his new book ‘The Manner of Men’ 9th Para’s heroic mission. 1120 hrs. MEMORIAL PEGASUS MUSEUM: Ox & Bucks wreath laying at ‘Coup de Main’ memorial stones on the other side of the original Pegasus Bridge along with 7th Oxfordshire Rifles Cadets who will sound the Last Post. (PB) (ORC)

1200 hrs. MEMORIAL PEGASUS MUSEUM: Vin d’honneur / cocktail given by the Pegasus Memorial Museum. The Pegasus Pipes and Drums Band will be playing until 1500 hrs. (MW)

1200 hrs. MERVILLE BATTERY: 9th Battalion Veterans will arrive for a picnic. (B&F) (AANT)

1230 hrs. SANNERVILLE: Barbeque at the Salle des Fetes (Village Hall) with Veterans Families. Music by the Yorkshire Police Band. (Booking in advance to Yves Le CUZIAT or by email 3para.bde@neuf.fr) (YL)

1330 hrs. MERVILLE BATTERY: Colonel Stuart TOOTAL DSO. OBE. (ex 3 Para commander, Falklands) will be at the Battery signing his new book ‘The Manner of Men’ 9th Para’s heroic mission. Along with Mike STRONG who has just published his own book “Steiner’s War – The Merville Battery”, the wartime history of the Merville Battery and that of it’s German commander. (AANT) (GBM)

1530 hrs. SAINT VAAST EN AUGE: Service & wreath laying on the 11 British and 1 Canadian of the 6th Airborne Division killed on D-Day when the glider they were in crashed near the village. There is a small museum which tells the story. Ceremony usually attended by a delegation of the Army Air Corps. Followed by a vin d’honneur. (B&F) (MSt) (YL)

1600 hrs. BENOUVILLE: Wreath laying ceremony Commando Memorial by the Cafe Gondree. (B&F)

1600 hrs. RANVILLE: The Yorkshire Police Band are giving a short concert at the Salle de Fetes (Village Hall) opposite the War Cemetery. (AANT) (YPB)

1700 hrs. MERVILLE BATTERY: 9th Battalion Veterans Ceremony at the Battery. (B&F) (GBM)

1700 hrs. BREVILLE LES MONTS: Commemoration at the Crossroads by the Crossroads / Churchyard where lie the Graves of Captain WARD and Private MASTERS. Music by the Yorkshire Police Band. Followed by a vin d’honneur. (RB) (MBr) (AANT) (YPB)

1815 hrs. BURES SUR DIVES: Wreath laying at Captain JUCKES, Royal Engineers Memorial. (YL)

1830 hrs. BENOUVILLE: Mr. Alain LEPAREUR, Mayor of Bénouville & Council Members welcome the Veterans of the ‘Coup de Main’ and 7th Para, their families & friends for a concert outside the Salle Polyvalente, Bénouville. Followed by an aperitif. Music by the Yorkshire Police Band. (PB) (YPB)

1900 hrs. TROARN: Wreath laying at the 8th Para Battalion Graves at the town Cemetery. (YL)

1915 hrs. TROARN: Wreath laying at French War Memorial & 3rd Para Squadron Royal Engineers Plaque. Followed by a vin d’honneur at the Salle des Fetes (Village Hall). (YL)

2200 hrs. MEMORIAL PEGASUS MUSEUM: Showing of the Veteran’s French TV Documentary film ‘Ils étaient les premiers’ (They were the First). Filmed over the last 2 years, this is the premier of this French documentary which will be shown on French television on 6th June this year. Please make sure you are in the museum before the film starts as the doors will be locked during the showing of the film. (MW) (PB) (YL)

2330 hrs. PEGASUS BRIDGE: Midnight Ceremony on Landing Zone by the new bridge – Major John Howard’s original ‘Talking the Gliders Down’ speech from 1986 in English & French followed by a firework display arranged by the Bénouville Council. (PB) (ORC) (YL)

Thursday 6th June

0930 hrs. RANVILLE: Wreath laying at 13th Para Battalion Memorial at the crossroads. Afterwards march in the direction of the Church. (B&F)

1000 hrs. RANVILLE: Mass in the Church. (B&F)

1030 hrs. RANVILLE CHURCHYARD: Wreath laying at the grave of Den BROTHERIDGE, the first man to be killed in action on D-Day. (PB)

1045 hrs. RANVILLE: Wreath laying at the French Monument in the Churchyard and then at the Belgian Plaque, opposite the gates of the War Cemetery. (B&F)

1100 hrs. RANVILLE: Service of Remembrance at Ranville Military Cemetery and Wreath laying at the Airborne Cross and at the graves of the Belgian and German unknown soldiers. Music by the Yorkshire Police Band. Followed by a vin d’honneur at 1200 hrs. (B&F) (PB) (YPB)

1130 hrs. BENOUVILLE: Local children parade from the Mairie to the Cemetery. (B&F)

1200 hrs. MERVILLE BATTERY: 9th Battalion Veterans will arrive for a picnic. (B&F) (AANT)

1230 hrs. BENOUVILLE: Town Hall: Assemble for Parade down to Signals Memorial along with 7th Oxfordshire Rifles Cadets. Veterans may join parade on Bénouville side of the new bridge for parade over to Ranville side. Music by the Yorkshire Police Band. (PB) (YPB) (ORC)

1245 hrs. BENOUVILLE: Signals Memorial by the new bridge for wreath laying ceremony with Veterans of Ox & Bucks Regiment & 7th Para, friends & families, cadets, Mayor and the Council of Bénouville and afterwards, the March back over the Bridge led by Veterans of D-Day. (PB) (ORC)

1310 hrs. BENOUVILLE: Ceremony at the 7th Para Battalion Memorial near the Town Hall along with 7th Oxfordshire Rifles Cadets. Music by the Yorkshire Police Band. Approximate time. (PB) (YPB) (ORC)

1500 hrs. ESCOVILLE MEMORIAL: Wreath laying ceremony with Mr. GARNIER, Mayor of Escoville along with 7th Oxfordshire Rifles Cadets. (PB) (ORC)

1530 hrs. HÉROUVILLETTE CEMETERY: Wreath laying ceremony with the Mayor, Mr. BOURDEAU and the school children of Hérouvillette. We are kindly invited to ‘un verre de I’amite’ (glass of friendship) afterwards in the Salle Polyvalente in Hérouvillette. (PB) (ORC)

1600 hrs. BANNEVILLE LA CAMPAGNE: Wreath laying ceremony at the Military Cemetery. (YL)

1700 hrs. TOUFFREVILLE: Wreath laying ceremony at 8th Para Battalion Memorial, on the road between Escoville and Troarn. Moving on to a wreath laying ceremony at BILLINGTON & PLATT Monument continue to the wreath laying ceremony at Corporal O’SULLIVAN’s grave in the village Cemetery. Followed by a vin d’honneur in the Mairie. (YL)

Friday 7th June

1000 hrs. SANNERVILLE: Wreath laying Ceremony at the Royal Marines Commandos Memorial (YL)

1030 hrs. LONGUEVAL: 1st Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles Memorial ceremony. (RC)

1030 hrs. GRANGUES: Service of Remembrance and wreath laying at the 6th Airborne Division Royal Engineers and Grangues Memorials. Followed by a vin d’honneur. Not Confirmed.

1100 hrs. SANNERVILLE: Service of Remembrance and wreath laying at 3rd British Infantry Division Memorial and International Memorial Plaque, by the Church. With the 3rd UK Division HQ Staff Officers. 2230 hrs. MERVILLE BATTERY: Re-enactment of the assault of the Merville guns with 150 re-enactors. (B&F)

Saturday 8th June

1030 hrs. COLLEVILLE MONTGOMERY: Unveiling of a statute to D-Day Piper Bill MILLIN. It is expected that many Veterans and Pipers will attend. (NVA)

1100 hrs. BEUZEVILLE: Gathering at Mairie de Beuzeville (Town hall). Welcome by M. le Maire. Coffee and Cake. (YL)

1200 hrs. BEUZEVILLE: March to the Cemetery. Wreath laying ceremony at the British graves. March to the War Memorial. Wreath laying ceremony. (YL)

Sunday 9th June

0900 hrs. MERVILLE BATTERY: All day long: “Heroes walk “. France 44 association is re-enacting the assault of the batteries with explanation periods (booking at the battery, 8 Euros). (B&F)
