Some memories stick

Living History

Sunday 17th. June 1945
Have applied for leave to see Mick who is at Udine.

One abiding regret that I still have regarding my wartime service is that I never got to meet up with my brother Mick in Italy.

Mick had arrived in Italy in January ’45 after volunteering to join the Jewish Brigade

and quite naturally I couldn’t wait to see him as it was at least four years since we had last met.

It was never to be however and today I spotted this entry in my diary which reminded me of one of my various attempts to arrange a meeting.

In post war years we always used to meet up at the Annual AJEX parade at the Cenotaph as this snap, taken in 1992, shows
