The Heritage Group’s first official outing was a cold wet but very enjoyable drive to Franschhoek.
The Group’s outing included a Willys jeep, a Pinzgauer 4×4, three Bundeswehr type 181 Kübelwagens , one civilian Type182 Kuebelwagen as well as an original fully functional German Army Fkü100/57 Field Kitchen.
These vehicles braved the rainy day to drive through to Franschhoek, and enjoyed a police escort through the town.
We camped opposite the Huguenot Memorial and enjoyed a meal from our original German Army Field Kitchen.
An awesome unforgettable experience, and the beginnings of something very special.
Of note is a young thirteen year old who followed the convoy with his father,and who is today one of our longest serving members!
